ABOUT ANDREW WALKER BERRY II
Hi, I'm Andrew

WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO
Our campaign is devoted and dedicated to serving the people of our Texas City community by improving public education, increasing access to healthcare, promoting economic growth, supporting small businesses, and enhancing public safety. We believe that by working together, we can build a brighter future for all.
MY BACKGROUND
I was born in Galveston, Texas and raised in Houston, Texas. After the death of both my beloved parents, Rev. Dr. Andrew W. Berry, Sr., (Former Pastor of the Avenue L. Baptist Church one of Texas oldest Black Congregations) and Mrs. Lois Marie Berry, I was raised by my paternal grandparents the late Rev. Dr. C.A. Berry and the late Dr. Jessie Mae Berry. After graduating from the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice in Houston Texas I went on to attend the Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, the Houston Baptist University, in Houston, Texas, Fuller Theological Seminary Houston, Texas and the Graduate Theological Foundation in Sarasota, Florida.
As a current and proud resident of our community, I have seen firsthand the challenges facing our families in Texas City on both personal and professional levels. With over a decade of experience in public service as the Senior Pastor of the Historic Greater Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church of Texas City, as well as the Founding Pastor of The New Life Church of Texas also in Texas City and a deep commitment to our shared values, I believe a vote for me is a vote for the future. Truly listening to people to help make their lives better calls for self and cultural awareness and welcoming with respect and dignity. It's important to make space for collective voices and to encourage varied perspectives to come together in the interest of the community.

Texas City is a wonderful place with vibrant scenery and attractions and should rightly be proud of its rich history and unique diverse culture. However, it's not exempt from the struggles many cities across the nation are facing these days. We can honor and celebrate long-lasting traditions while at the same time truly welcoming cultural diversity, this kind of civic commitment promotes a sense of connection and belonging for all, and only enriches Texas City's ongoing development as a city and as a community.

I have dedicated my life to improving and serving the lives of others. All of our residents deserve to know that their local government is ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and health. As Commissioner At Large, I will join in the effort to balance public safety, housing needs, economic vitality, and environmental concerns in the face of an ever-changing society. I look forward to the opportunity to play a role for positive change in Texas City. With your vote and support, I will continue this work as your Commissioner At Large.
